Messi, Alvarez help Argentina reach back-to-back Copa America finals

Goals from Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez helped defending champions Argentina defeat Canada 2-0 in the Copa America 2024 semi-final on Tuesday.

The Manchester City forward Alvarez scored in the first half while Messi finally opened his account for this tournament in the second half.

Canada played well in parts and kept a lot of possession at times but missed a final pass or a bit of quality in front of goal to really threaten Argentina’s defense.
