Messi the most decorated football player in history with 45 trophies
Considered by many as the greatest football player of all time, Lionel Messi added another feather to his record-laden career cap by winning the Copa America for the second time as Argentina defeated Colombia 1-0 in the final.
The win meant Messi now has 45 trophies with club and country in his career, surpassing the record previously held by Brazil’s Dani Alves.
The little boy from Rosario, who once faced scrutiny for not being able to win any silverware with his country now has four in a row in three years.
With one World Cup, two Copa Americas and a Finalissima coming for the Argentina captain from 2021 to 2024.
He’s also won four Champions League trophies a 10 La Ligas with Barcelona during his time there.
As far as individual awards go, LM10 has a record eight Ballon d’Ors and a record six European Golden Boot awards too.
Overall, Messi now has 1212 goals and assists in 1068 games with 838 goals and 374 assists.
