Texas police find bags of marijuana, ecstasy hidden in Buc-ee’s beaver plushies

A routine traffic stop in Texas turned out to be a “first” for officers when they discovered drugs inside Buc-ee’s beaver plushies.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Cody Williams pulled over a San Antonio man around 1 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 10. After the driver consented to a search of the vehicle, Williams recognized the smell of marijuana.

Tracing the smell to Buc-ee’s beaver plushies in the backseat, Williams felt packaging inside and noticed they had been re-stitched. Marijuana and ecstasy were found hidden inside the plushies.

The driver, identified as 47-year-old Lugene Davis Jr., said he was having chest pain. An emergency medical team was called to the vehicle and transported Davis to a local hospital.

Officials report the drugs were seized from the vehicle and a warrant will be issued for Davis’ arrest. The marijuana weighed over two pounds.

Buc-ee’s is a Texas-based convenience store chain with a beaver as a mascot. Its iconic beaver merchandise is widely recognizable in the Lone Star state. In June, Buc-ee’s opened the world’s largest traveling center in Luling.
