President for taking necessary steps to ensure speedy justice in SC
He expressed hope that the SC would take necessary steps under the leadership of the chief justice to reduce the people’s sufferings to the pending cases

President Mohammed Shahabuddin today (18 August) urged judges of the Supreme Court (SC), led by the chief justice, to take necessary steps so that the people can get speedy justice.
The president made the call when a five-member judges delegation of the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban this afternoon.
The Head of the State congratulated the newly-appointed chief justice and the other new judges of the Appellate Division, President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS after the meeting.
The SC, country’s apex court, would take necessary steps under the leadership of the Chief Justice to reduce the people’s sufferings to the pending cases, President Shahabuddin hoped.
The other judges of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court are Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, Justice Syed Md Ziaul Karim, Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice SM Emdadul Hoque.
During the meeting, the president was apprised by the chief justice of the overall activities of the Supreme Court.
He said all the benches of the Supreme Court’s both divisions have been reorganised in the meantime.
Secretary of the President’s Office Dr Nasimul Ghani and Military Secretary Major General Mohammad Adil Chowdhury and Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin were present during the meeting.
