Train-truck collision in Sreemangal halts rail connectivity between Sylhet, rest of country
Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country has been suspended due to a collision between a train and a truck in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar, at around 2am today (18 August).
The accident occurred around 2am at the railway crossing in front of Sreemangal Railway Station.
According to eyewitnesses, the gatekeeper responsible for the railway crossing was not present, and the gate was not lowered, which led to the Dhaka-bound Upaban Express colliding with a truck.
“Rail communication remains suspended following the collision with the Upaban Express. The truck involved in the accident will be removed from the railway line to restore the rail services,” said Sakhawat Hossain, the station master of Sreemangal Railway Station.
Meanwhile, the Upaban Express of the Dhaka-Sylhet route is stuck at Satgaon Railway Station due to the accident.
