BNP leader Zainul Abedin Farroque has filed a case against former DB chief Harun-Or-Rashid and DMP joint commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarker for beating him up during a hartal programme in 2011.

Farroque lodged the case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station this (19 August) afternoon.

In the case statement, Farroque mentioned that the police beat him with sticks and kicked him with boots, intending to kill him.

On 6 July 2011, Farroque, the then opposition chief whip, had come under police attack in front of the parliament building when he was leading a procession during a strike called by BNP. Video footage showed Harun initiating the attack on Farroque during the scuffle on Manik Mia Avenue.

The incident sparked widespread debate across the country, with the police officer’s treatment of the BNP leader drawing significant criticism.”
