A case has been filed against former state minister for Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman and 321 others over the killing of Sajjad Hossain, who was shot dead in Savar, Dhaka during the student-led mass uprising on 5 August.
The victim’s father Md Alamgir filed the case with Savar Model Police Station yesterday (18 August) night, Inspector (Investigation) Abdur Rashid told The Business Standard.
Apart from Enamur Rahman, other accused include Savar Municipal Mayor Haji Abdul Gani, Ashulia Thana Awami League President Faruk Hasan Tuhin, Savar Upazila Chairman Manjurul Alam Rajib, Upazila Chhatra League President Atiqur Rahman Atiq and a number of AL leaders, current and former union parishad chairpersons, as well as current and former municipal councillors of Savar and Ashulia.
Besides, 400-500 unnamed people were also accused in the case.
Speaking to The Business Standard over the phone, plaintiff Alamgir claimed that he did not know anything about the accused in the case other than signing the case documents.
“There were many people in the police station. There were people from student organisations as well as some strangers. They were doing everything,” he said.
“When I went to the police station they asked me to sign two papers. I signed and then left. I don’t know anything else,” he added.
When asked about the plaintiff’s comment, Inspector (Investigation) Abdur Rashid advised to talk to the officer-in-charge of Savar Model Police Station.
Officer-in-Charge Md Shahzaman could not be reached for a comment despite several attempts.
