Govt committed to reducing railway costs: Railways adviser
Railway Ministry Adviser Dr M Fauzul Kabir Khan has pledged to reduce railway costs to align with public expectations.
Following an introductory meeting with ministry officials today (19 August), the adviser told reporters that the government is committed to taking steps to lower costs of the railway sector.
To address key issues, Fauzul Kabir ordered the formation of three taskforces to monitor train operations, combat ticket black markets, and reclaim illegally occupied railway land.
He also emphasised the importance of ensuring easy ticket availability for passengers and fostering a transparent work culture.
The adviser warned against unethical practices and urged officials to focus on performance rather than the culture of admiration.
“The consequences would be severe if this government fails. The mandate of the interim government is much stronger than any previous administration. People were frustrated by past corruption, nepotism, and irregularities. Students took to the streets, and they have brought this government to power with the hope of fulfilling the people’s expectations,” he said.
