The government has formed an inter-ministerial committee to prepare a comprehensive list of those killed and injured in the recent mass uprising, provide treatment to the injured, and offer financial assistance to the families of the deceased.
The 13-member committee, formed by the Health Services Division, includes representatives from various ministries and divisions, and has a representative from the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement.
The committee’s remit includes developing a policy to provide medical treatment to those injured in the recent mass uprising by students and the general public and provide assistance to the families of the deceased.
It will also prepare a comprehensive list of those killed and injured in the recent mass uprising.
Mohammad Humayun Kabir, former secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has been appointed convener of the committee.
The committee will include representatives from the Cabinet Division, Medical Education and Family Welfare Division, Finance Division, Public Security Division, Ministry of Social Welfare, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Technical and Madrasah Education Division, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Directorate General of Health Services, and Directorate General of Medical Education.
The joint secretary (government and private health management) of the Health Services Division will serve as member secretary of the committee. The committee may co-opt members as needed.
