Another murder case was filed against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 24 others for killing a garment worker during the mass uprising in the city’s Adabor area on 5 August.
Victim’s brother Mohammad Ibrahim filed an application to lodge a murder case against the 25 accused in Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Shohag Uddin’s court this morning.
Accepting the plea, the court ordered Adabor Thana police to record the statement of the plaintiff and register the complaint as a first information report (FIR).
The other accused in the case are- Awami League general secretary and former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Jubo League chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Porosh, its general secretary Mainul Islam Khan Nikhil, BCL president Saddam Hossain and general secretary Sheikh Walid Asif Enan, former DB chief Harun-or Rashid, former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman and former DMP joint commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarkar.
According to the case statement, victim Sohel Rana was shot during a protest against the ousted government near the Adabor Thana area on 5 August.
He was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital (SHSMC) where the duty doctors declared him dead, it said.
