Professor Dr Mahmud Hossain, the vice-chancellor of Khulna University, has resigned from his position today (20 August).

Along with him, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mosammat Hosne Ara and Treasurer Professor Amit Ray Chowdhury, Acting Registrar Professor Khan Golam Quddus have also resigned.

The vice-chancellor submitted his resignation letter to the secretary of the chancellor of Khulna University and the secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, citing “personal reasons.”

After the resignation of the Sheikh Hasina government, there were demands from students, teachers, and staff for the resignation of vice-chancellors and other officials at various public universities, leading to incidents of protests, lockdowns, and office closures. However, Khulna University was an exception.

There were no allegations against any of them, and the university had a normal environment.
