A fire broke out at Pran-RFL Group’s depot adjacent to the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Cumilla on Friday (23 August) afternoon.

“After raging for nearly three hours, four firefighting units brought the fire under control around 5pm,” Md Bazlur Rashid, senior station officer at Cumilla Fire Service and Civil Defence, told The Business Standard.

“The cause of the fire is still unknown,” he added.

Mohammad Forkan, the in-charge of the depot, said, “The fire suddenly erupted at the depot around 1:50pm. The employees initially tried to extinguish the fire but were unsuccessful and subsequently called the fire service.”

“The depot stored all of Pran’s products and supplied goods to all shops in the district. The entire depot was completely destroyed in the fire, resulting in a loss estimated to be worth several crores of taka,” he added.
