Mushfiqur’s 11th Test century: Second-most for Bangladesh, third in Pakistan
Mushfiqur Rahim’s determined century highlighted the morning session of Day 4 in the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi.
Resuming the day alongside Liton Das, Mushfiq showcased his trademark resilience and skill, guiding Bangladesh to 319 for 5 at lunch.
This century was a testament to his unwavering concentration, as he held firm against Pakistan’s bowling attack. His celebration was emphatic, raising his bat and roaring in triumph—a well-deserved acknowledgment of his efforts.
In addition to his century, Mushfiq also achieved another significant career milestone during this innings. He became only the second Bangladeshi batsman to surpass 15,000 runs in international cricket, joining Tamim Iqbal in this elite club. Earlier in the innings, he had brought up his 28th Test fifty, further cementing his status as one of Bangladesh’s all-time greats.
Mushfiq’s contributions have been crucial to Bangladesh’s standing in international cricket for over a decade. With more than 5,700 runs in Test cricket, over 7,300 in ODIs, and around 1,500 in T20Is, his consistency and resilience have been pivotal to the team’s success.
At lunch, Bangladesh stood at 389 for six, with Mushfiqur unbeaten on 101 from 208 balls and Mehedi Hasan Miraz on 17 from 44 deliveries, still trailing by 59 runs.
The morning session saw Bangladesh add 73 runs in 25 overs, losing just one wicket—Liton Das, who edged a delivery from Naseem Shah to the wicketkeeper after a solid 56-run innings.
As the players head into the lunch break, Mushfiq remains the cornerstone of Bangladesh’s innings, his century steering the team towards a respectable total.
