382 Ansar members have been taken to a Dhaka court today after being arrested in the cases filed over clashes with the students in front of the Secretariat gate last night (26 August).
“189 Ansar members in cases filed with Shahbagh police, 98 in cases filed with Ramna police and 85 in cases filed with Paltan police have been produced to the CMM court,” Saifur Rahman, general record officer (GRO) of the court (Shabagh) told The Business Standard.
Despite the government’s promise to meet their demands, Ansar members continued their protest last night, blocking the Secretariat gates and engaging in clashes with students and the public.
The clash broke out between the members of Bangladesh Ansar and students after Anti-discrimination Student Movement coordinator Hasnat Abdullah sent out a message that he and some others were being held in front of the Secretariat.
At least 40, mostly students, were injured during the clash.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), in a press release today, said six army personnel were injured in an attack by Ansar members in the Secretariat area.
