Rickshaw pullers take it to streets demanding ban on battery-run rickshaws

Hundreds of pedal rickshaw pullers have taken to the streets, demanding a ban on battery-run rickshaws from the streets, terming them “discriminatory”. 

Pedal rickshaw pullers from different parts of Dhaka were seen heading to Shahbagh around 10am this morning (26 August). 

“We don’t earn more than Tk200 per day. After paying the rickshaw fee and buying some rice, there’s hardly enough left to put food on the table for our families,” said one of the protesting rickshaw pullers in Banglamotor, who was on his way to Shahbagh with others.
