Enayetullah Khan, editor-in-chief of United News of Bangladesh (UNB), has been invited to participate in the 6th World Media Summit (WMS), scheduled to take place from 14-20 October.

The World Media Summit, established in 2009 by leading global media organisations such as Xinhua News Agency, the Associated Press, Reuters, TASS, and Kyodo News, has become a premier platform for global media exchange and collaboration.

The upcoming summit will focus on the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Media Transformation,” reflecting the growing influence of AI in the media industry. Participants will engage in discussions on how AI is reshaping news collection, production, and distribution, as well as the challenges and opportunities it presents for the future of media.

The 5th WMS, held in China’s Guangdong and Yunnan Provinces in December 2023, was widely praised for its success, setting high expectations for this year’s event.

Khan, who founded UNB and transformed it into South Asia’s first digitised wire service, will join leaders from major global media outlets, government officials, international organisations, and high-tech enterprises at the summit. As the founding editor of the national newsweekly Dhaka Courier, Khan has played a pivotal role in advancing digital journalism in Bangladesh.

The WMS continues to be a critical forum for discussing the most pressing issues facing the global media landscape, and this year’s focus on AI and media transformation highlights the importance of innovation in maintaining a dynamic and resilient media industry.
