The interim government has achieved significant cost savings for the Padma Bridge project, reducing the total expenditure by Tk1,835 crore through a cost-cutting policy.
Road Transport and Bridges Advisor Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan announced the savings at a press conference after inspecting the project in Shariatpur this (30 August) afternoon.
He noted that if a more effective government had been in charge during the construction, costs could have been further reduced.
The savings include reductions in additional construction, river management, connecting roads and service areas, land acquisition, and consultancy fees.
Originally, the previous government estimated the construction cost of the Padma Bridge at Tk32,605.52 crore. Through these cost-saving measures, the expenditure has now been reduced to Tk30,770.14 crore.
The adviser stressed that the current government is committed to earning public trust and will apply cost-cutting policies to all future projects.
