From now on, members of law enforcement agencies must disclose their identities before arresting anyone, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said today (1 September).
“When carrying out any operation, members of the law enforcement agencies should make arrests after disclosing their identities. No one can be arrested without providing identification under any circumstances,” the advisor said in a press statement sent to the media tonight.
The press statement, however, did not clarify as to what would be considered as providing identification, such as whether or not law enforcement members have to show their ID cards or wear their uniform during the arrest.
