‘Proud of this young group, the pacers have delivered beyond expectations’
Andre Adams, Bangladesh’s pace bowling coach, has expressed immense pride in the young pace attack following their historic performance in the Test series against Pakistan.
In the second Test, Bangladesh’s pacers achieved something unprecedented in the nation’s Test cricket history by taking all ten wickets in Pakistan’s second innings, bowling them out for just 172 runs. Hasan Mahmud led the way with his first five-wicket haul, while Nahid Rana and Taskin Ahmed shared the remaining five wickets, sealing a dominant performance.
Adams, who has been guiding this emerging group of fast bowlers, acknowledged the effort and growth shown by the pacers. “I’m very proud of this young group,” Adams remarked. “These weren’t the kind of wickets we were expecting before this tour, but this was a big effort from our pacers.”
He emphasised the importance of nurturing this promising talent, stating, “I’ve been here to an already pretty good group; you need to look after the fast bowlers. They are keen, and the management just needs to take care of them.” Adams also noted the importance of maintaining the momentum and continuing the progress made so far. “Pretty happy with how it’s going so far,” he added.
Reflecting on the significance of this achievement, Adams shared his perspective on what it means to Bangladesh. “I don’t know what it means to the country; they’re a proud nation, and I am sure they’ll be proud of the team, especially after what happened in the last couple of months.”
He concluded on a humble note, acknowledging the recent challenges the team faced. “From myself, the celebrations will be pretty muted,” Adams admitted, highlighting the importance of staying grounded amidst success.
Under Adams’ guidance, the Bangladesh pace unit has reached new heights, marking a turning point in the nation’s cricketing history.
