Most RMG factories open as normalcy returns to Ashulia industrial zone

Most of the RMG factories in Ashulia opened today (8 September) following a directive from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).

The situation in the area was normal till 11am today.

According to sources at the industrial police and factories, most workers joined work spontaneously except in two or three factories.

However, workers of The New Age Group and Al Muslim Group left their factories around 8:45am after joining work at 8am.

Meanwhile, the authorities of Ha-Meem Group talked with their workers after they presented various demands after joining work in the morning.

The superintendent of industrial police Md Sarowar Alam did not comment on the matter.

However, Superintendent of Dhaka district police Ahammed Muid told TBS, “All the factories are running smoothly except The New Age and Al Muslim. As owners were present in their factories, workers were able to present their demands to them. As a result, there was no unrest in the area.”

“Law enforcers are maintaining caution and patrolling the area,” he added.
