Dhaka residents have been experiencing severe traffic congestion on the way to the office and other destinations this morning (8 September).

Severe traffic jams have been reported in the capital’s Bijoy Sarani, Farmgate, Jahangir Gate, Karwan Bazar, Shahbagh, Banglamotor, Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway and different parts of the Mirpur road.

The exit ramp of Dhaka Elevated Expressway in front of FDC remained packed around 10am this morning, with the Hatirjheel entrances and exits behind Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon also experiencing severe traffic gridlock.

“I left Banani DOHS for the office at 9:20am. The Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway remained completely packed,” Tasrin Tanjim, a private jobholder, told The Business Standard.

“Entering the Elevated Expressway in Banani brought a short relief, but then I was stuck at the FDC exit ramp again for around 20 minutes,” she added.

Md Asif Iqbal, another private jobholder, echoed the same, mentioning that he had to spend 20 minutes on the same exit ramp, with cars waiting in line all the way up to the expressway.
