Yash Dayal earns maiden call-up as India prepare for Bangladesh Test series
On Sunday (18 August), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the first Test, which sees bowler Yash Dayal receiving his maiden call-up.
The series is set to kick off with the first Test in Chennai from 19 September, followed by the second Test in Kanpur starting on 27 September.
India come into the series after a disappointing ODI series loss to Sri Lanka, while Bangladesh is in fine form, having recently secured a historic Test series victory over Pakistan. This upcoming series offers India an opportunity to bounce back against a Bangladesh team riding high on confidence.
Once the Bangladesh series concludes, India will host New Zealand for a three-match Test series beginning on 16 October. This will be New Zealand’s first visit since their 2021 bilateral series. Following the New Zealand series, India will embark on a highly anticipated tour of Australia for a five-match Test series.
India’s home schedule for next year starts with a series against England, who are set to return for five T20Is and three ODIs across January and February 2025, having already played a five-Test series earlier this year.
