Murder and genocide cases were filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, alongside 34 others, in connection with the death of Farhan Fayyaz, a class eleven student of Dhaka Residential Model College, during the recent anti-discrimination protests.
Farhan’s father, Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan, filed this complaint today (10 September) with the investigation agency of the International Criminal Tribunal in the capital’s Dhanmondi.
This is the 11th case filed against Hasina at the ICT for genocide.
Among the 34 others accused are – Obaidul Quader, Anisul Haque, Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain, General Secretary Wali Asif Inan and police officer Biplab Kumar.
They have been accused of committing crimes against humanity, including murder and genocide.
Farhan Fayyaz was killed in a clash between police and Awami League activists on 18 July.
He was supposed to appear for the HSC examination in the 2025 batch.
He lived with his parents in Dhanmondi.
