Shotguns linked to former MP Henry, her husband found in under-construction mosque in Sirajganj
Two shotguns, along with 16 rounds of ammunition, were recovered from the stairs of an under-construction mosque in Sirajganj.
The weapons were traced to Jannat Ara Henry, a former member of parliament for Sirajganj-2, and her husband, Shamim Talukder Labu.
According to officer-in-charge (OC) Humayun Kabir of Sirajganj Sadar police station, the discovery was made on the morning of 8 September in Fulkocha village when locals at the mosque noticed the firearms and promptly alerted the authorities.
Upon receiving the tip-off, police arrived at the scene and recovered two shotguns, one of which was highly sophisticated, along with 16 rounds of ammunition and two magazines, said OC Kabir.
An investigation confirmed that the shotguns belonged to the former MP and her husband. However, OC Kabir noted that the shotguns’ licenses had been revoked after the couple failed to surrender them by the government-mandated deadline of 3 September.
A case has been filed at Sadar police station regarding the incident.
