RMG factory set on fire in Gazipur

Unidentified people set fire to a readymade garment (RMG) factory in the Kashimpur area of Gazipur on Wednesday (11 September).

“The fire broke out at Aptech Industrial Park’s Big Boss garment factory around 1pm, Gazipur Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Abdullah Al Arefin told The Business Standard.

“When two firefighting units arrived at the scene, they were attacked by angry workers and were forced to return to the station. Later, we sought the help of the Army,” he added.

Earlier in the day, workers from Beximco Group had been staging a demonstration demanding payment of salary arrears.
