AL leader Akram Hossain arrested over Khulna BNP leader Ziko murder


Ziko died 25 November 2022 following an attack allegedly by AL activists

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Sheikh Akram Hossain, president of upazila Awami League and former upazila chairman of Phultala, in connection with the murder of BNP leader Sheikh Sazzaduzzaman Ziko.

RAB Legal and Media Wing Assistant Director ANM Emran Khan confirmed the arrest to The Business Standard this (12 September) evening.

On 22 October 2022, Ziko was injured in an attack allegedly by Awami League activists on the Bhairab River while heading to a trawler to attend the BNP’s divisional mass rally in Khulna. 

Ziko received treatment at the Upazila Health Complex and was later released. However, after returning home, he passed away on 25 November of that year.
