Due to the deep depression that was formed in the Bay of Bengal, rain is likely across most places of Bangladesh today (14 September), as per a bulletin by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The depression that was earlier formed at the bay is currently positioned over the Jashore region as a land deep depression.
“Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at some places,” reads the Met office’s weather bulletin.
The weather forecast also suggests the temperature might fall by two or three degrees over the country.
Meanwhile, Cox’s Bazar recorded the highest rainfall in the country, with 223mm of rain in the last 24 hours from 9am yesterday to 9am this morning, as per media reports.
Dhaka experienced 10mm of rainfall during the same period.
Since 20 August, heavy rainfall has been reported in several parts of the country’s southeastern and northeastern regions.
Along with that, water from upstream floods affected 11 districts, impacting around 5 million people.
