Cristiano Ronaldo made history during the international break, becoming the first footballer to reach 900 official career goals. The Portuguese star soon extended that record to 901.
Ronaldo returned for Al Nassr on 18 august, his first appearance since achieving the milestone. The club honoured him with a special ‘900’ jersey, and fans in the stadium displayed a large tifo celebrating their hero.
However, the match against Al Ahli nearly ended in disappointment. Franck Kessié put the visitors ahead in the 57th minute, and despite dominating play, Al Nassr struggled to find an equaliser. But in the ninth minute of stoppage time, an own goal salvaged a 1-1 draw, preventing a first defeat of the Saudi Pro League season.
Al Nassr controlled 59% possession and took 19 shots, with four on target, but it was the late drama that spared them. They now sit 6th in the table, with one win and two draws from their opening three matches.
After the game, Ronaldo praised the team’s fighting spirit, writing on social media: “Untill the last moment, keep believing”.
