India declared their second innings at 287-4, setting a daunting 515-run target for Bangladesh with over two and a half days remaining in the first Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Mehedi Hasan Miraz was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh, taking two wickets, while pacers Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana chipped in with one wicket each.

India resumed Day 3 on 81-3, with the overnight pair of Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill dominating the first session. They added 124 runs to the total, pushing India’s lead beyond 400.

Pant fell shortly after Lunch, dismissed by Miraz after reaching his century, while Gill remained unbeaten as India declared.

Bangladesh, skittled for just 149 in their first innings, now face a monumental challenge in their second innings, needing to chase an imposing target in the fourth innings.
