Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus will meet US President Joe Biden in New York on 24 September on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Citing sources in Dhaka and New York, Prothom Alo reported that Washington finalised the Yunus-Biden meeting last Thursday afternoon. In view of this, instead of 24 September, Dr Yunus is leaving for New York on 23 September.
Meanwhile, Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain told reporters yesterday (21 September) that Dr Yunus is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with the prime ministers of the Netherlands, Pakistan, and Nepal.
Besides, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and USAID Administrator Samantha Power will call on Dr Yunus to have bilateral talks.
Responding to a question, the foreign adviser said there will be no bilateral meeting between Dr Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the schedule of the two leaders overlapped.
