2 dead after mini truck hits stationary truck in Jhenaidah


Two people died and another one was injured after a mini truck hit the back of a stationary truck today (24 September).

The accident happened at approximately 4:50am at the Saduhati intersection.

Jhenaidah Fire Service Inspector Tanvir Hasan confirmed the matter.

The deceased have been identified as Anisur Rahman, 65 from Bor-Kaunia village, and Farukh Matubbar, 45 from Bhawal village, both in the Salta police station area of Faridpur district. 

During the collision, another passenger, Matiar Rahman, was injured and has since been admitted to Sadar Hospital for treatment.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that the mini truck was traveling from the Shaotal area of Faridpur to Meherpur to purchase bananas when the accident happened. As the vehicle approached a speed breaker on the Jhenaidah-Chuadanga highway, it failed to stop in time and crashed into the back of the truck.

Authorities report that the truck driver involved in the collision fled the scene.

The deceased individuals’ bodies were recovered and handed over to the police, added the fire service official.
