ACC to launch inquiry against Premier Bank chairman HBM Iqbal
Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has started an inquiry against former MP (Dhaka-10) and the chairman of the Premier Bank HBM Iqbal.
An ACC official confirmed the matter to The Business Standard today.
According to the report of the intelligence of ACC, this former leader of the Awami League has acquired hundreds of crores of illegal wealth in the last 13-14 years.
He has been serving as the chairman of Premier Bank for 13 consecutive years since 2011 through abuse of power.
The Gulshan Hotel Renaissance and Royal University of Dhaka were built through illegal resources, according to the ACC.
Over a period of time he has owned numerous companies and has acquired a huge amount of wealth from various positions in these organisations.
Apart from Iqbal, the ACC has also decided to inquiry the former MP of Habiganj-3 Abu Zahid.
