Attempt to murder case filed against BCL president Saddam, 65 others

An attempt to murder case was registered with a Dhaka court today (26 September) against 66 persons, including Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Saddam Hossain, over an attack on the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders in 2022.
JCD joint general secretary Ariful Islam filed the case with Metropolitan Magistrate Akhteruzzaman and the court asked Shahbagh Police Station to lodge the complaint as the First Information Report (FIR) after recording the statement of the complainant.
The other key accused in the case are: Dhaka University’s former proctor Golam Rabbani, former president of BCL Al Nahian Khan Joy, its former general secretary Lekhok Bhattacharjee, BCL former leaders – Sanjid Chandra Das, Riazul Islam, Monem Shahriar Hasan Moon, Samiuzzaman Sami, Asif Hossain, Rehanul Lovely, Sabbir Hossain, Ariful Islam Arif, Ohidul Islam Akash, Badhan Mia, Azizul Huq, Obaidul Hossain and Solaiman Habib.
According to the case details, the then newly formed Sohel-Arif JCD committee members came under attack in front of Sir F Rahman Hall of the Dhaka University (DU) on 27 September in 2022 allegedly by BCL men while they were going to meet the then DU VC.
Several JCD leaders, including the complainant Ariful Islam, were injured in the attack.
