Overnight rain in Kanpur continued until Friday morning, leaving the field wet and delaying the toss of the second and final Test between India and Bangladesh by an hour.

Despite the start of play, rain returned during the lunch break. Although play resumed after the break, it didn’t last long. With the rain returning, the umpires decided to call off the remainder of the first day’s play early. Only a little more than one session of play was possible on the day.

Bangladesh scored 107 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 35 overs. Mominul Haque remained unbeaten on 40, with Mushfiqur Rahim on 6 as they walked off the field.

Zakir couldn’t score any runs off 24 balls, while Shadman made 24 runs with four boundaries off 36 balls. After that, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto built a 51-run partnership for the third wicket with Mominul, scoring 40 runs off 81 balls with 7 boundaries. The left-handed batsman was trapped LBW by Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
