Tiger Robi hospitalised after alleged assault by Indian fans
Bangladesh’s devoted super fan, Tiger Robi, has been taken to hospital following an alleged assault by Indian supporters during the second Test between Bangladesh and India, held in Kanpur.
According to Robi, he was subjected to harassment in the stands and sustained injuries after being struck in the ribs. Local police in Uttar Pradesh subsequently sent him to the hospital for medical treatment.
A police officer stationed at the Kanpur Green Park Stadium confirmed the incident, stating, “We have sent him to the hospital. Doctors will assess if there are any medical concerns. Robi claims he was harassed.”
The officer further assured that a thorough investigation would follow, adding, “We have CCTV cameras in place. We will review the footage to determine what exactly happened.”
The incident allegedly took place during the lunch break on the first day of the Kanpur Test, just as rain began to fall. Robi, who had moved to the interior of the stands, reportedly got into a verbal altercation with a group of local supporters, which escalated into a physical confrontation.
Earlier in the series, during the first Test in Chennai, Robi also reported being harassed by Indian supporters.
