DU calls emergency meeting following UGC directive to close all universities

Dhaka University has called an emergency meeting of its highest policy-making forum syndicate to determine what to do regarding University Grants Commission (UGC)’s directive of shutting down all universities of the country until further notice and to vacate the halls of residence of the students.
The meeting is taking place in the office of Vice-Chancellor ASM Maksud Kamal. Syndicate member present at the meeting Abul Mansur Ahmed told Prothom Alo that the syndicate meeting started at 10am today.
UGC wrote to the Vice-Chancellors yesterday night to close all the universities of the country till further orders and instruct the students to vacate the halls of residence amid the ongoing agitation demanding quota reform.
