Our students shot with guns bought with our tax money: Debapriya

“Our students were shot with guns bought with out tax money,” said Debapriya Bhattacharya, a distinguished fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).
Students must be released from police custody immediately, said Debapriya Bhattacharya during a protest rally held in front of the Detective Brach of police’s office at Dhaka’s Minto Road today (1 August).
He also said, educational institutions have to be reopened and internet has to be restored completely.
Regarding the government claiming the country’s image is being tarnished he said, “I believe that to the world Bangladesh’s image wasn’t tarnished, but the government’s.”
Also present at the procession were Professor of the Law department of Dhaka University Asif Nazrul, lawyer and human rights activist Nur Khan Liton among others.
Prof Asif Nazrul said, “We clearly want to say we want justice for killings, we want the persons behind the order of killing to brought to book.”
