3 killed in Cumilla as car falls into ditch


Three people were killed and a woman was injured after a car fell into a roadside ditch on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Chandina upazila of Cumilla today (17 August).

“The incident occurred around 2pm near Madhaiya Muktijodda Smriti College on the highway,” Anay Kumar Ghosh, station master of Chandina Fire Service, told The Business Standard.

“The car belonging to Life Trust Insurance Company leaving from Dhaka first crashed into a tree and finally plunged into the roadside ditch, killing three on the spot,” he added.

The deceased identified as company’s employees Muzammel Hossain, 46, Shakhawat, 40, and the private car driver Hossain, 35, Md Jahangir Alam, DMD of Trust Islami Life Insurance Company’s Comilla region, confirmed the matter.
