Dismissed cops staged a demonstration in front of the Police Headquarters today (18 August) demanding their jobs back.
Thousands of policemen who lost their jobs at various times in the last 15 years, united with their one-point for an executive order to restore their jobs.
Despite the protesters blocking the area, neither the police chief nor any higher authorities were seen outside the headquarters.
Senior officials, including the IGP, were inside the building at the time.
The protesting officers said, “If BCS police officers have been reinstated in the past, why can’t we? What is the fault of those who have been proven innocent through investigations and judicial processes? They should not face any obstacles in keeping their jobs. However, officials from the Awami League government, including IGP Shahidul Haque, Benazir Ahmed, and Abdullah Al-Mamun, did not reinstate them.”
