The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has been hit with a fine of 15,000 Swiss Francs (approximately Tk 20 lakh) by FIFA due to a security breach during Bangladesh’s World Cup qualifying match against Australia on June 6 at the Bashundhara Kings Arena, as announced by BFF General Secretary Emran Hossain Tushar on Sunday.
FIFA had previously levied fines of 11,250 Swiss Francs and 1,400 Swiss Francs for security issues during World Cup qualifying games against Lebanon on November 21, 2023, and the Maldives on October 17, 2023, both held at the same venue.
The cumulative amount of fines stemming from spectator-related incidents now totals Tk 53 lakh. In light of these penalties, the BFF general secretary urged fans to adhere to the rules and regulations while attending international matches to prevent further sanctions.
