DSE chairman Dr Hafiz Md Hasan Babu resigned


Dr Hafiz Md Hasan Babu, chairman of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) resigned citing personal reasons on last night (19 August). 

In this regard, Dr Hafiz, dean of the faculty of Engineering and Technology of the University of Dhaka, has submitted a resignation letter to the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) through an email, and a copy of the resignation also sent to the DSE top officials, confirmed a DSE official.

Previously, in February 2023, the BSEC appointed Dr Hafiz and three independent directors to the board of the DSE.

Later, Hafiz was appointed as chairman of the DSE board.

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina government, the BSEC chairman professor Shibli Rubayet-Ul Islam resigned on 10 August night on personal grounds.
