Ex-MP Mahbubul Alam Hanif, 75 others sued over killing in Kushtia

A case has been filed against 76 individuals, including former MP Mahbubul Alam Hanif and several other prominent figures, in connection with the killing of a man named Yusuf Sheikh during the students’ movement in Kushtia.
Yusuf’s daughter, Seema, filed the case today (19 August) at Kushtia Model Police Station, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mahfuzul Haque Chowdhury.
The case also named an additional 20 to 30 unidentified persons.
The victim’s daughter mentioned in the FIR that on 5 August, around 3:30pm, during the anti-discrimination movement and non-cooperation movement, her father Yusuf Sheikh was on his way home from his workplace. When he reached inside Noor Tailors Lane in front of the Fire Service Office in Kushtia town, the named accused chased him. Following this, under the instructions of Hanif and his cousin Ata, the accused individuals shot and killed him.
The OC said that operation to arrest the accused in the case is ongoing.
Previously, in a case filed regarding the death of a teenager named Abdullah during the anti-discrimination student movement in Kushtia on Thursday night. Mahbubul Alam Hanif has been made the prime accused in the case.
