The officials of the National Identification (NID) wing’s Identification System for Enhancing Access to Services (IDEA)-2 project have boycotted their official duties, demanding job permanence.

Since this morning (21 August), they have been staging a sit-in protest in front of the Election Building in the capital’s Agargaon.

Earlier yesterday (20 August), all officials and employees of the IDEA-2 project, from grade 9 to grade 20, announced this programme with two demands.

Their demands include cancelling the decision to transfer NID activities to the Ministry of Home Affairs, keeping them under the Election Commission and transferring the jobs of all outsourcing workers of the IDEA project to the revenue.

They also said they will continue the programme until their demands are met.
