Students searched the Mohammadpur residence of Awami League presidium member and former minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak, suspecting the presence of weapons.
Although no weapons were found, the students discovered many sacks of rice and blankets in the house.
The search began on Wednesday (21 August) evening. To prevent any potential looting, an army team arrived at the scene to maintain order.
During the search, photos of leaders and activists from various political parties were reportedly found in Nanak’s home, particularly images of several prominent Islamic scholars.
According to the students, Awami League leaders may have used the location to target political opponents.
Jahangir Kabir Nanak was elected as the Member of Parliament for Dhaka-13 constituency in the 12th National Parliament and previously held the position of minister of jute and textiles.
