A case has been filed against 270 individuals, including the ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the murder of a man during an attack at Bahaddarhat in Chattogram city amidst the recent student movement.
The case, which also names several high-profile leaders of the Awami League and its affiliated organisations, accuses the defendants of murder over the death of one Fazle Rabbi during the unrest, Chandgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidul Kabir told The Business Standard.
The complaint, filed by Md Salim, a resident of East Bakalia Ward in Chattogram, with the Chandgaon police station yesterday night, also includes charges against an additional 100 unidentified persons.
According to the case statement, Salim, who originally hails from Charfashan upazila in Bhola district, accused the individuals of murdering his son, Fazle Rabbi, during a violent clash that erupted on 4 August.
This case is one of three murder cases filed against Sheikh Hasina in connection with casualties linked to the anti-discrimination movement in Chattogram. The other two cases were registered earlier at Chandgaon and Panchlaish police stations.
