Hasina, Rehana, Joy, Saima, 76 others sued over killing of Bogura BNP leader in 2018
A murder case has been filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul and 76 others over the killing of a Bogura BNP leader in 2018.
Shibganj Upazila BNP General Secretary and lawyer Abdul Wahab filed the petition with the Bogura Additional Judicial Magistrate Court as the plaintiff today (22 August), multiple court officials said.
“I filed a case with the court to seek justice for the murder of our party leader. The court has accepted the petition and ordered the Shibganj Police Station to file a case,” plaintiff Wahab told The Business Standard.
Among the other accused includes Rehana’s son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, former inspector general of police Benazir Ahmed, former press secretary to Sheikh Hasina Naimul Islam Khan, Ekattor TV Managing Director Mozammel Babu, journalist Farzana Rupa, former local Member of Parliament Shariful Islam Jinnah, and former upazila chairman Firoz Ahmed Riju.
According to the case statement, on 26 January 2018, in the evening, Shah Alam Suja, the president of the Shibganj Upazila BNP, was attacked. His body was recovered the next day from Raninagar Police Station in Naogaon.
The case alleges that Sheikh Hasina, Rehana, Joy, Saima, and others planned, ordered, and directed the murder of Suja. The others accused abducted and murdered Suja.
The FIR also claims that when an attempt was made to file a complaint with the police station at that time, it was not accepted.
Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdur Rauf told TBS that they had not yet received any documents regarding the order for such a case. Upon receiving the documents, legal action will be taken.
