Don’t delay in accepting GDs, FIRs, cases: Home ministry tells police

The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a circular asking police not to delay in filing general diaries, FIRs or cases, reads a press release. 

According to the release, the Police-3 branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Public Security Division issued a circular regarding the acceptance of complaints at police stations on Wednesday (21 August). 

“The Public Security Division has been informed through various complaints and news published in the media that in some cases, some police stations are expressing reluctance or delaying the acceptance of GDs/FIRs/cases,” the circular read. 

“In such instances, prompt legal actions must be taken; examination and investigation processes cannot be prolonged,” it added. 

“The Bangladesh Police is a crucial institution for ensuring public security. This institution will promptly investigate various public complaints and take necessary legal actions to restore its dignity,” reads the circular signed by the Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division, Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen.
