Two girls have drowned in flood water while returning from a local madrasah in Titas upazila of Cumilla today (25 August).
The deceased, who are paternal cousins, have been identified as Ayesha Akhtar, 10, daughter of Monir Hossain of Bagairampur village, and Samia Akhtar, 9, daughter of Mokhtar Hossain.
The incident took place around midday in the Bagairampur village, Titas Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazmul Huda told The Business Standard.
The victims were students of Nayakandi Ishaqiya Sahiniya Darul Quran Madrasah, he added.
“Their bodies were handed over to their families without an autopsy as there was no objection,” he also said.
