Flood death toll rises to 27 in 11 districts, 56 lakh affected


Among the 27, ten died in Cumilla, one in Feni, five in Chattogram, one in Khagrachhari, five in Noakhali, one in Brahmanbaria, one in Lakshmipur, and three in Cox’s Bazar

Twenty seven people have died in the ongoing floods in 11 districts across the country so far, with around 56.19 lakh people affected, said Faruk E Azam, adviser of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief today (27 August). 

“The number of marooned families in these eleven districts is 12.07 lakh. A total of 74 upazilas are flooded, and 541 unions/municipalities have been damaged,” Faruk said during a press conference at his office in the Secretariat. 

The disaster management adviser said among the 27, ten died in Cumilla, one in Feni, five in Chattogram, one in Khagrachhari, five in Noakhali, one in Brahmanbaria, one in Lakshmipur, and three in Cox’s Bazar.
