Two arrested for allegedly asking money from ex-MPs posing as Mirza Fakhrul’s PS

The Special Branch of Barishal police today (27 August) arrested two people who were allegedly demanding money from former members of parliament while posing as personal secretary of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The arrestees are Md Shaheen, 40, and Syed Riazul Islam, 35, said Sub-Inspector Sohel Mollah of the District Special Branch of police.
They were arrested from Babuganj area of the city and later produced in court.
“The court sent them to jail. We applied for a five-day remand. A remand hearing will be held later,” he added.
According to police sources, the arrestees demanded a huge amount of money from ex-MP of Barisal-3 constituency and Jatiyo Party Presidium member Golam Kibria Tipu and ex-MP of Barisal-6 constituency Ratna Amin.
A case was filed with Babuganj Police Station on 25 August over the incident. Police tracked the location of the accused and arrested them.
